We are excited to continue our monthly Family Night event on Friday April 25, 2014, from 6:00pm until 8:00pm. Parents, family members and friends of Cornerstone’s clients are invited to attend a process group and discussion of issues facing parents of addicts with our alcohol and drug addiction therapist, Barbara Hernandez, MS, LMHC. The event is open to parents, family, and friends of Cornerstone’s clients in recovery treatment who want to learn about the programs and therapy provided at Cornerstone, meet some of the staff and get to know other family members of clients. The past events have proven to be very successful and educational when loved ones get to spend time with other family members who are going through the same things they are.
Alcohol and Drug Addiction is a Family Disease and We Support Families
Cornerstone Recovery Center has a firm belief that addiction is a family disease and we do our best to involve family members in all steps of recovery. These Family Night events are designed with the goal of letting family members know that they are not alone in their struggle to help loved ones in recovery. Including friends and parents in the recovery process has proven to be a very important aspect of long-term recovery. Based on the success of the last several months, Cornerstone plans to continue these monthly events. A parent of a Cornerstone client that attended last month’s Family Night event gave the following feedback: “Another emotional but inspirational Family Night. Thanks to the staff at Cornerstone for taking as much care and concern with our needs as well as with those we love that are on the recovery road… We are ALL together in this journey. You keep leading… We are following…. One step at a time. Thank you.”
