Barbara has been a licensed mental health therapist in Florida for 15 years and has been in the psychology field for over 20 years. She has a passion for treating people that have a dual diagnosis – a combination of mental health issues and addiction, which tend to go hand-in-hand.
After working in many settings with various populations, from kids to geriatrics, Barbara found a home at Cornerstone because of its smaller size and the opportunity to give more personal therapy to her clients. “My goal is to be fulfilled and to be at peace with the things that I do,” says Barbara. “Being a strong woman and always moving forward are important to me.”
In addition to her work at Cornerstone, Barbara loves advocating for kids and has been a Guardian Ad Litem. She is a member of the National Counseling Association and supervises and prepares registered interns for their hours to become licensed therapists. The only daughter of Cuban parents, Barbara is bilingual and can work with clients in both English and Spanish.
